As part or our recent stationery tour of London, Anita and I popped into Kiki K in Covent Garden, the cool Swedish stationery retailer. This was a new experience for both of us.
Kiki K was founded by Kristina Karlsson when she went looking for stationery and organisation solutions for her own home office and didn’t find anything she liked. This is apparent in the selection of products on offer. There are a lot of planners and organisers in different formats – wall charts and notebooks of different sizes. As well as various journals if you like to keep note of what you are up to – habits journal, mindfulness journal, happiness journal, dream big journal. I have to admit these are the sort of journals that I think would be a great idea but I am not disciplined enough to keep them for more than one day. However I would find the wall charts useful as I need big visual reminders of what I am supposed to be doing every day.
The stationery style is generally muted tones with great minimalist design. Like the latest Pause collection, with it’s minty green, white and black colour palette. However, I’m not sure that there is much for boys or men. Maybe that changes with the seasons.
This would be a great shop to buy gifts for the stationery lover. I liked this letter writing set, which would be the ideal present for young teens who need to be nagged to death before they write their thank you letters.
The item I bought when we visited the Covent Garden store was a B5 notepad that was exactly the right size to fit on my desk. It is part of the Meow range and has twenty different designs repeated through out.
I welcome Kiki K to the UK. They are definite rival to Paperchase and it will be interesting to see how these two brands co-exist on the high street. I’m sure we at Papers Pens Poets will be back very soon.
