The avian tropics handmade embroidered journal and pencil case feature one of Brie Harrison‘s designs, a designer and illustrator based in East London. Her work is inspired by travel and nature and focuses on her love of pattern and colour. They were sent to us to review by abrams & chronicle books and are part of their gift and stationery range. I particularly like the fact they are a matching set and believe together they make an ideal gift for any writer.
The journal has rounded corners and 120 lined pages of superb quality recycled cotton paper, which is both acid and wood-pulp free. The cover is silk-screened and machine embroidered to accentuate the details in the birds and flowers. The paper does not bleed and allows both fountain pens and ballpoints to run smoothly.
The matching avian tropics handmade embroidered pouch is fully lined. It is 9.25 inches long x 5 inches high x 1.5 inches wide – the ideal size to carry all a wide selection of stationery items. It is described as a pouch because they suggest it can also be used to as a handy suitcase-sized toiletry bag. It has a handy hook to hang it in a bathroom but it is not waterproof.
