Interview with Claire Dyer

I was given a set of Cross pens for a significant birthday a few years ago and one of these is my bestest signing pen and so it travels with me wherever I go in the hope that someone somewhere has one of my books about their person they wish me to sign!

Oh, I’m definitely all about the looks! I have a sparkly blue one at the moment and when it sits on my desk and catches the light, it’s oh so pretty!

I get through a lot of A4 paper (boring choice I know!) but especially when I’m working on a poem, I can only ‘see’ and ‘hear’ it when it’s printed out and so many, many versions go into the recycling!

claire dyer notebookI’m a novelist and poet and have published 3 novels and 2 collections of poetry. My latest novel, The Last Day, came out with The Dome Press February 2018 and I’m currently working on a new novel and have a new poetry collection forthcoming in 2021. I teach Creative Writing for Bracknell & Wokingham College, run Fresh Eyes – an editorial and critiquing service – and curate Reading’s longest-running poetry platform, Poets’ Café, with my colleagues at The Poetry Society’s Reading Stanza. I am a regular guest on Radio Reads with Bill Buckley on BBC Radio Berkshire. I have an MA in Creative Writing from Royal Holloway, University of London and am represented by Broo Doherty at DHH Literary Agency.
