My favourite pen is, by far, the Zebra Z-Grip Retractable Ballpoint Pen. They’re not available in Brazil, where I live, so whenever I travel abroad, I buy a lot of them. It’s an elegant pen, and a very comfortable one.
I always buy a new notebook when I’m starting a new project, even if I already have a semi-new one with most of its pages blank. Moleskins are not my thing, I prefer an affordable notebook with lines, the kind I used in school.
My wife is the one who proofreads my work, and she loves a Red Bic Pen to make her notes. I also have an industrial stapler which can be very useful for large manuscripts, and a small compact one for short stories and essays.
My novel Sherlock Holmes and the Glad Game is a crossover between the world’s most famous detective and another classic literature character: Pollyanna from the Glad Game books. These are very different characters, Holmes being precise and intellectual, while Pollyanna is emotional and happy-go-lucky. It was a lot of fun to put these two together and see how they interact.
I’m also the author of the Grandma Bertha Solving Murders series. Those are cozy mysteries about a spunky old lady who loves scary movies and solves crimes in her spare time. The first one of the series is The Convenient Cadaver, and I’ve just recently released the second one, The Homicide Magnet.
